Just a Note and Merry Christmas

I did two card today. The Merry Christmas card uses the Brayer Tapping Tutorial from Technique Junkies current newsletter. I think I need to practice it a little more but like the finished job. Stamps used are the trees from Tim Holtz and the rest are retired Stampin' Up! I did use the Fruitcake Spectrum pad and then brayered over with Green Galore. Stickles added to the trees and red striped ribbon from Stampin' Up! added at the top.

The second card I did was for a challenge on Paperartistsonline.com. This card uses retired Designer Paper from Stampin' Up! along with Whisper White and Old Olive. I just love Old Olive and sponged that color around the edge of my scallop.

While I was playing

this morning this is what I came up with. I have tons of old CD and decided to cut one up and get the old melting pot going. I used UTEE and added some perfect pearls, may have been a little heavy on the purple. I also used some Fantasy Film that I have tons of. Sprinkle in a few ultra fine beads and they are ready for a scrap page, card or maybe some jewelry. What do you think of them?

A Card!

I know I haven't posted a card in quite some time. I have been so involved in other things. I have some swaps that I have been doing. As soon as they are all swapped out I will post them. My card uses all Stampin' Up! products - several are retired. The central flower is cut using the Sizzex Build a Flower die in the Big Shot. The designer paper is retired and I wish I had even more of that pattern, of course I have plenty of designer paper! The base card is Old Olive layered with Very Vanilla, another Old Olive the DP and then the flower. I cut the leaves free hand. A Pearl Button from the Pretties Kit in the center then some Stickles to add a little extra zing. The Old Olive ribbon added on the side has a couple of extra pieces from the build a flower die. Hope you like it.

If any of you are in NC or the NC area you have surely heard of basketball coach Kay Yow. She has just recently lost her over 20 year battle with breast cancer. While I have never been a true basketball fan I greatly admire Kay Yow. If you have not done so recently please schedule a mamogram and go to the right side of this blog and click on the pink cancer ribbon. It only takes a moment.

Also if you have not entered the One World One Heart Giveaway please do so. You don't have to do anything but leave a comment on the post bellow. Also over 460 bloggers are involved in this giveaway and there are terrific items being given. Take a look around.

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Photo tag

My friend Beth sent me this challenge - Go to where you store your photos on your computer. Go to the SIXTH folder and pick the SIXTH photo. Post that photo on your blog along with a SHORT story about it. Tag SIX people and leave a comment on their blog or email them letting them know you chose them. My sixth album happened to have old photos that I had scanned for a family project. This is my mom and dad with their first great grandchild in 1984. Bryan was our first grandchild and he and his mom spent a lot of time at Mamaw and Pops house.
Now I supposed to tag 6 people but I think I will leave this one open. Please play along and let me know that you have done so. This is fun to look back at all our older photos. Thanks and have a great day.

Remembering Swaps

I have been joining several swaps lately and in order to keep up with due dates I have made this little book. It is a little 5 x 5 Art Journal from Stampin' Up! I have used some retired Designer Paper, retired Collage Alpha set, stickers from EK and lots of fibers. I hope this does the trick for me.

BRAGGING

I just have to brag on my hubby. He has been wanting to slowly get back into woodworking. It has been a long time since he has done anything with that hobby. He was trying to think of an easy project and I told him he could make a stable for one of my Nativity sets that didn't have one. He worked on it over a week and this is what he came up with. I think he did a wonderful job and hope he will do another one for another set that is 'stableless' not a word I'm sure. Now this does not have the finishing touches like placement and straw and more figurines but you can get the idea.
Don't forget to leave a message in my giveaway post if you have yet to do it. Also check out all the other great giveaways by clicking on the world.

Scrapping

Our snow is pretty much over. I'm still working on some pages these two are of our grand-daughter-in-law on her graduation day from East Carolina University. She is now a teacher and just waiting for all the paper work to be completed so she can get a full time job teaching. Right now she is subbing.
These pages used Club Scrap and Stampin' Up! products.

January 20, 2009 Snow

This is the view from our front door. I really didn't step outside much because it is really blowing. We very seldom get snow here in my area of North Carolina so I just had to get a couple of pictures. We'll see how much we end up with.

January 19, 2009 A day with friends

Hope and Beth came over yesterday and we did get some scrapbooking done. I working on finishing up some of the pages I did layouts for. Have to finish with journaling and adding "stuff". It is so much more fun to have friends to scrap along with.

A Day in the Park

Here are two more layouts I did today. Our grandson enjoying his day in the park. He loves being outside and our son and DIL spend as much time on outings with him as possible. Cardstock is Club Scrap. I even used my Nestabilities for the saying and stamped a few moths. The moth is a retired Stampin' Up! stamp but I don't remember off the top of my head which set it is from. I used Crystal Effects on the moths to make them pop a little.

COUNTER

I don't have a clue what happened to my old counter but I couldn't get it working. Now I have to start all over.

GENEALOGY UPDATE

I also want to say that I have found a bit of information that might help me find out where my paternal line came from. I have found the date that my great grandfather was Naturalized. I am in hopes of ordering these papers and that they will give me a lead. This Prussian side has been one of my brick walls.

I will be back later to catch up on all my blog friends. Have a great day and try to keep warm.

Christmas Scrap Pages

I am doing some scrapping. Here are two pages with photos that were taken over the holidays. On the 27th of December I had 30 relatives at my house. To say it was a bit crowded is an understatement. Thank goodness the weather was decent enough that the kids, both young and older, were able to get outside and play. Both pages use Club Scrap paper and some Stampin' Up! products along with some of my new Tim Holtz goodies.

Nothing today

Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I hope to get back to stamping and scrapping really soon. I am just very engrossed in doing my genealogy and since I only have a 3 month period to get my information I'm cramming.

I also want to mention that my ATC rejects are only rejects because I was trying for various background for the swap I'm in. I came up with one I really liked so I just finished off the ones that I put up yesterday. My swaps are for 3 different stages, I had to do 4 ATC backgrounds only for my first group. The second group that I will be receiving will already have the background and I will have to add the next layer and then send it on to the person who will add the embellishment. I am in three groups so I will be doing all three layers. I am very anxious to see how these turn out. I have never done a swap like this. I'll post them all when finished.

ATC - rejects

I was trying to come up with some different backgrounds for an ATC swap I'm in and had started these. Decided against using these background but finished off these ATC's anyhow. The cardstock is Club Scrap and I used Glimmer Mist on the background, and stamped my image in Broken China Distress Ink then stamped the Crosshatch background from Stampin' Up! in Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I then used these K & Co stickers.

Trinchies Correction - THRINCHIES

See I even have them listed wrong. What they are - 3 x 3 pieces. You can make 12 of them out of a full sheet of 12 x 12 if you want to use the same background. With mine I did different backgrounds so lots of different papers. Here are just 4 more.
If you are looking for a fun new scrapping/stamping/swapping site top and visit: www.paperartistsonline.com
No selling there, you can use any products for your projects.

Trinchies

These are for another swap that I have signed up for - not a lot of stamping on them.

GENEALOGY

I have put off for a long time getting back to my family tree. I just signed up for 3 months of Ancestry so I plan on spending a good bit of time there. I guess I will need to do another blog so I don't bore all the stampers and scrappers with my research. I am really looking forward to breaking down some of my brick walls.

ATC's

I have not posted in a very long time. Holidays were really busy. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
I am now getting back in the swing of things.
I have made these ATC's for a swap that I am in. Getting ready to get them in the mail. These use both Stampin' Up! and Club Scrap products along with extras that I have on hand.
